To be Honest, I never imagined myself to be Associated with the Feminist Movement. But as I grew, all I felt was an isolation in personal life and characterisation in Professional due to inculcated patriarchy in our Society.

I think you will be able to connect after reading this Summary of the “ Feminist Rani”. At first I underestimated this book but by the last page it underscored me!!!

This book is an Anthology of different people’s experience and their fight with this patriarchal World. Meghana Pant and Shalini Chopra gave justice to their Voices Perfectly.

Aditi Mittal

Aditi Mittal is a well known Comedian.

She has broken the ceilings that prevented women from entering and staying in the predominantly male stand up comedy scene. The battles she fought gave her humour over the edge that struggle demands.

She also realised that the stereotypes are still the biggest laugh. As she states that if in a comedy club you say Punjabis are loud and Gujaratis are cheap so people will love it. She says you have to be really stupid to be that fearless. And according to her in this stratum, Women are considered decorated pieces of excitement for the men. She even opposes the Devi and Dayan dichotomy.

And if to be asked honestly, We don’t want to be your Ghar ki izzat nor your office’s shaan. We want to be us. It’s really the High time for the Indians to Start seeing women as a human.

She( Aditi) is flying the feminist flag high and we are so Proud of her.

Deepa Malik

She is someone who inspired me the most throughout this book. She denies the fact the we are the WEAKER sex because we are biologically Weaker.

At the age of 6, she was diagnosed with tumour. Though she later recovered from it, her relationship with Pain is not something contemporary. She got married at a young age of 20. In 1999 she was Diagonosed with spastic paraaplegia. Doctors told her that she had seven days before she became paraplegic.

At Just 29. Deepa was sentenced to lifetime wheelchair.

Her husband was in the army so all the inspiration she had was her two little daughters.

She states that You don’t have to wait for change to happen to you. You have to become the change.

Unlike Giving up on the Path chosen by destiny for her, She made her own path.

Equipped herself with everything she could. Went through rehab. In 2002 she moved to a farmhouse with her in-laws. Where she started Rehabilitation for boys who were working with her and provided them with educational and vocational training. But it seemed like Pain really liked her companionship and in 2006 she got another shock, the doctors told her that only her arms would remain active and a little bit of her neck.

She refused to let this dictate the kind of life she might have.

Though she was already 2 decades late. But she knew that she would have to push her body to the absolute limits.

Because she knew very clearly that winners don’t do things differently, they do different things. In the 2010 Asian games, she won a Bronze Medal.

But the journey wasn’t that easy and affordable for her, From 2012 to 2014, she faced financial problems. To earn money for her regular check ups, she became a motivational speaker. She finally received the government’s salary in 2014.

No wonder it is said that show me a woman without guilt and I will show you a man. Things weren’t different for Deepa, as she faced massive Mother shaming attitudes from her relatives and friends.

But according to her she taught her daughter to step out of their own boundaries to understand the world. Raised them as a free woman. And most importantly gave them the legacy of great Conquering over struggles of Life!!!

At the age of 46, she became the oldest and the only women from India to win a medal at Paralympics.

“Deepa’s most visible identity was being diaabled but she refused to make it her most defining definition.”

Gurmehar Kaur

It’s a story of a young college girl who was molested to have her own voice.I mean c’mon it’s not something new now!!!!Her video was being distorted and circulated in the nation with extremely just vice-versa of what she said.

According to Gurmehar, she never needed to think what feminism is as she grew up in it. With her Single Mom and Grandmother.

“You are on your own.” is her message to the Women all over the Universe.

Sapna Bhavani

Sapna Bhavani is a rape Survivor. She was raped on the streets of New York City. She might be known for many things, being a celebrity stylist, transforming Dhoni’s Hair style , the badass in Television show Big Boss but what makes her a hero of the future is her ability to live her life on her own terms. She says it’s hard for her to forgive herself for staying silent for so many decades but now she wants every woman with a voice to speak up her own mind and the story.

She states that “There is a respect in silence but resurrection in speaking up.”

Tamnay Bhat

Here comes another name to the Feminists List but this time it’s a well renowned Comedian and a MAN!!!

But discrimination doesn’t vary between Genders sometimes. At a Young age only, he was being bullied for his weight and Compared with his cousins.

But this didn’t stop him from Expressing himself on a Positive note. He Chose Comedy to come over this.

According to him the most annoying definition of feminism is ‘Man Hater’. There is no type. He further asks why do they always have to crib about this basic equality, ya?

He insists that talks like wage gap and sexism in movies are not something to be avoided. He has an answer for all those who ask why don’t we call this movement equalism and humanism, because it’s ok to name the movement after the oppressed.

Malishka Mendonsa

She is a hardcore Mumbaiker and a Radio Jockey. Who was flooded with rape and murder threats for complaining about pot holes of the city. Bought up by a single independent mother, Malishka says that Confidence is the only thing that one needs to wear.

She strongly feels that Why should anyone box themselves? Growing up, Maliskha mom may have protected her from patriarchal mindsets but society treated her just the opposite.

Women too shall take women up as much as men do. She has been unscrupulously criticized for being a woman with a voice but she says it’s time to be Face to Face with your Fear

Gul Panag

Actor, Politician and Entrepreneur, Gul Panag is a great example of a continuous Achiever. In 1999 she was crowned Miss India and everyone assumed that some random beauty Queen entered the Cinema World.

“Sometimes we don’t need the revolution to change the lives of the women. We just need one woman to care about the position of other women” And that is what Gul’s achievements are all about.

According to her the small incidents of the society can shape the perspective of People looking towards Women. An elephant walking on the road is novelty but we won’t stare at it because we have seen elephants so in the same way even Men should get used to seeing women in every place.

She joined politics because she wanted to be a part of the solution and at least our institution needs to be gender neutral even if our society is not.

Gul finally stated that Constantly upgrade your skills, pick a hobby, play a sport but do something extra. Otherwise, you will forever remain the same.

Ankhi Das

Ankhi is Public Policy Director for Facebook and Feminism to her means having a voice, a voice in your relationships with others, in society and above all with yourself.

She is a worshiper of Shiva since he always celebrated the Power of Parvathi. It’s something too core in mythology but I don’t think there is someone who doesn’t agree!!!!

Being a Business woman, according to her Economic involvement of the women is the must essence of the whole corporate community. We owe it not only ourselves but others who will come after us. Don’t you agree?

According to Ankhi, Women demand less and give more and don’t even realise. And is something we need to come over since Corporate can be a real cruel Monster sometimes!!!

Arefa Johari

Arefa Johari comes from a Bohra Community. She was molested with khatma at a young age of 7. Her Clitoris was being removed without her consent and even knowledge. And since the day she acknowledged it, she has been fighting for other women of her community.

Unfortunately, they are in our culture ethos and it is difficult to upset the status quo. But Arefa’s Fight is still on!!!

She further states that every religion should be encouraged to Bring positivity instead of taboo.

“Despite being cut, she has pierced herself together to become the fabric of authenticity that our culture sometimes lacks. That is what progress looks like”

Rohini Shirke

Rohini Shirke was brought up in the village with orthodox neighbours and villagers. Her family was humiliated for sending her to school.

She was never encouraged by her in-laws for learning new skills or even to pursue her own Business. But like a Lone Wolf she moved out of her in-laws house, took a house in rent and mastered the art of Nectar collection. Now she owns her very self made Business. And her whole family is immensely proud of her.

That is why it is being said that When you empower a woman, you empower a family.

Tried for Gram pradhan, Rohini says patriarchy is so deeply embedded in us as a society that we don’t yet know how to counter the small, nuanced details of how men lead and win elections.

Rana Ayyub

History has long taught us that what is the outrage of today can be the benchmark of tomorrow, that the censored of today can be the artist of tomorrow.

She is a Journalist and possesses a noteworthy and truth telling voice in the miasma of noise and suffocating intolerance. According to her Feminism, is not about writing articles or making rhetorical statements on Twitter . Unfortunately that’s the case now. Feminism has come to be about this stereotypical notion that we have. In her interview she states that every boy should be raised as a Feminist.

And like a strong Leader she even states that Journalists from the rural areas are truly the real heroes. And all those who have been threatening her in the name of religion, she has just one thing to tell them, “ Religion is about Compassion”.

Rana is a compelling reminder that women are neither to be pitied or censured, changed or controlled, they are to be celebrated in all their emotional, empathetic, intuitive glory.

Sorabh Pant

Sorabh Pant is a Comedian. And has dedicated his great work for achieving a better Feminist World.

It’s a slap for all ‘Man Haters’.

Shree Gauri Sawant

Shunned, Ostracized, Judged and Sidelined, Shree Gauri Sawant is a trangender Activist. And according to her, Gender is not in your genitals, it’s in your mind. “A mother does not have a gender. A mother can be a man, woman, gay or lesbian. A mother is a mother. You don’t have to Label her.”

Kalki Koechlin

Her name is not something unknown to the world. She represents the Aura of a strong independent woman. Not just financially but emotionally too.

But her Life took an undesirable turn when she married the famous director Anruag Kashyap. The Great achievements of her husband somewhere took away her identity and compelled her to live under her husband’s shadow. To which she finally denied and moved out of that relationship. She still recalls how she used to be called out as Anurag’s wife, not as Kalki anymore!!!

She suggests to have complete honesty but to keep your independence, to keep separate friends and to keep some idea of life outside each other. Or you will end up putting pressure on each other. Even when you are in Love, try to do a conscious thing.

It’s high time to say GoodBye to Disney Idea of Love. It’s high time to Grow Up and it’s for sure the Last Train to catch for Boarding from FairyTale’s Land.

Kalki Koechlin tries to convey from her recitation to have Courage to think and act differently and the most importantly to embrace it.

All of these Stories literally blew my mind and compelled me to look around question the things which has been taught to me since my birth!!!!

So when are you gonna question yourself? Is this really your Identity or someone else made you the Replica of this Society?
